I have prior experiences as a Principals mentor for Auckland University and for Evaluative Associates providing leadership development support and guidance across New Zealand.

Current Leadership roles in Education

I currently serve on the National Māori Principals Executive (Te Akatea), National Resource Teachers of Learning & Behaviour Executive, National Maori Achievement Collaborative Trust Board, National Māori Medium reference group, National Education Act Sector reference group and have experience on New Zealand Educational Institute Principals' Council.

I bring experience presenting at a wide range of international and national education and leadership conferences including NZSTA, NZEI, Te Akatea, International Conference of Thinking, Belfast- Ireland 2011, International Conference of Thinking, Bilbao-Spain 2015, Apple Leadership Summit-Gold Coast 2017, U Learn 2014,15,16,17, First Time Principals Leadership Residential Conferences 2012,13,14,15,16, Apple Technology Integration 2015 with Ruben Puentedura Christchurch -, Apple World Innovation Summit –Speaker 2018, Apple Global Education Leaders-First foreign keynote speaker at Steve Jobs theatre (Cuppertino / Silicon Valley) 2018.

I have been the Tumuaki at Te Pākihi o Maru in Oamaru since 2020 and prior to that was the Tumuaki at Waitati School. I am also the lead Tumuaki of the Waitaki Ara Kāhui Ako. I am an active and engaged member of my runaka supporting them with education priorities.

During my time on the executive I have been part of the Te Mātaiaho Curriculum refresh working groups, Ending Streaming as well as engagement with Peak Bodies across Aotearoa.

It is an honour to be able to strengthen Ngai Tahu iwi and hapū relationships with Te Akatea. Working with the executive to ensure the best educational outcomes for Māori is an absolute privilege.

I have been the tumuaki of Tauhara Primary School in Taupoo for eight years. During this time I have been the Chairperson for our local principal association - Central Plateau Principals Association and completed two years as lead principal for our Taupoo Kaahui Ako from 2020 to 2022. We have 16 schools and 25 early learning centres in our Kaahui and work closely with our local Iwi, Ngaati Tuuwharetoa. I have been a member of Te Akatea since 2015, and am the current Secretary of Te Akatea Maaori Principals Association. I am also the representative for Te Akatea as a member of the executive on the New Zealand Principals Federation Association. Prior to being at Tauhara, I was the Deputy Principal at Taupō Primary for 10 years before working as the Cluster Manager of Te Hā o Te Manawa RTLB Cluster 20 for five years. I was based at Rotorua Lakes High School leading a large cluster of 40 Resource Teachers of Learning and Behaviour working from Rotorua through to Turangi. I bring over 30 years experience working as a waahine Maaori leader in English medium schools. I look forward to the continued work of Te Akatea serving our members and supporting Maaori leaders in education across Aotearoa.

I am currently serving in my 14th year as a Tumuaki. Having vast experience as a kaiako and Tumuaki in a Urban Kura Kaupapa Māori then returning home to a special place in the valley in Oparure to a rural kura-ā-Iwi - Te Wharekura o Maniapoto. I am currently a dual leader for Waitomo Arotahi Kāhui Ako. I am a member of the Te Rau Whakatipu Māori – Te Rito Working Group of Principals' representing Māori Medium schools for the Student Information Sharing Initiative. I currently serve as a member for the National Leaders Group. I bring to the membership the strength of been a Wahine Māori Leader in Education.

I have been at Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Māngere for the last 21 years. I started here in
2002 under the leadership of Matua Jim Perry as the Acting Tumuaki for a term. I was
Tumuaki Tuarua until 2005 and again became the Acting Tumuaki. In Term 3 of 2006 I
secured the Tumuaki position and to this day, still here.

My hononga to this Kura before becoming the Tumuaki, I was a parent, then a Board
member, now to where I am at present.

Previous to becoming a Tumuaki of this Kura, I was working at Rongomai Primary school
under the umbrella of Jim Perry and Te Aouru Biddle, firstly as a Teacher Aide, then applied
for the Kaiarahi i te Reo position which I succeeded. From there applied for a teaching
diploma programme through Te Wānanga o Raukawa under Te Rangakura. I have Te Aouru
Biddle to thank for leading me into this pathway.

I am currently the Mangai (Delegate) for Ngā Kura Kaupapa Māori Te Aho Matua o Tāmaki
Makaurau under the umbrella of Te Rūnanga Nui o Ngā Kura Kaupapa Māori o Aotearoa. I
was selected by the 9 Kura in this rohe.

I am currently the secretary of Tāmaki Makaurau Senior Kapa Haka Committee, the delegate
for Tāmaki Makaurau Primary Schools Kapahaka rohe and also an executive member on the
Mana Kuratahi Board.

It is an honour to serve our whānau and hāpori as Tumuaki of Irongate School, Flaxmere i te rohe o Ngāti Kahungunu ki Heretaunga. This is my 13th year as a Tumuaki and my 6th year at Irongate School. I've been involved with our local Hawkes Bay Primary Principals' Association Executive over the last 7 years advocating and supporting kaupapa Māori, Māori Leadership, and Māori Educational success.

I am excited and passionate about the mahi I have been involved in with Te Akatea over the last two and a half years. I was elected onto Te Akatea Exec in 2021 with the support of Ngāti Kahungunu Iwi Incorporated, Irongate School BoT and the Hawke’s Bay Principals’ Association. As an elected Te Akatea Executive Member we continue to advocate and support kaupapa Māori to meet hapū, iwi, community and whānau aspirations.

I have been an active member of my marae committee having served as secretary and my iwi on the organising committee each year for Rangiaowhia Memorial, former secretary for the Ngaati Apakura Runanga Trust as well as actively supporting my iwi and whaanau Treaty Claim for Ngaati Apakura.

Over the last fifteen years, I have served in several leadership capacities in addition to my Principalship of two small rural schools, then Deputy Principalship at Nawton, followed by current Principalship of Nawton School (U5). I have been both Secretary and President of the Piako Principals' Association, and served on the executive of Waikato Principals' Assn, Co-convenor for the 2013 New Zealand Principals' Conference. I am currently the Lead Principal for RTLB (Resource Teachers of Learning & Behaviour) Cluster 16 which services 83 schools and includes 43 staff. Past Chairperson and current member for Te Rau Whakatupu Maori – Te Rito Working Group representing Maaori Medium schools for the Student Information Sharing Initiative.

I am also Chairperson for The Rauhii Project Community Social development project with a music focus working in partnership with five other schools. It is an honour to be seconded onto the Te Akatea Maori Principals' Executive and support Kaupapa Maaori, Maaori Principals and aakonga.
