MAORI LANGUAGE FUNDING REVIEW
Te Akatea was part of this review and we are buoyed by the commitment of those on the group that are absolutely committed to the revitalisation of Te Reo. Yes there will be some winners at higher levels of provision in terms of funding that may effect the funding of those at lower levels however Te Akatea has made an informed decision and is supportive of the recommendations that will be sent to the Minister. Other changes may include improved accountability and a front loading of programmes for approval at the lower levels. In addition to this is an investigation into the provision of travel assistance for those wanting higher level provision but go past another school with funding. So, watch this space.

EDUCANZ
Te Akatea is also part of this review and we can report that thought that the moderation and landscape is so variable, ala National Standards Data as different organisations do their appraisals and moderation in different ways. They want to get national consistency with the appraisal process.

Anyways, I'm sitting here writing this as our kapa haka practise at one end of field while our drama club are polishing their 'animation' skills. Schools, best place to be. Next newsletter will include information on Maori Achievement Collaborative (MACs), more on our conference and information on a trial scheme for Principals in te Tai Tokerau.

Kia pai to koutou wiki!
